Imagine if Red Eye Orb would search for an invasion not only in the current location but anywhere in the game. You just pop it in Firelink Shrine and it finds you an invasion in Irithyll Dungeon.

If you use Wex and it does nothing, it means there is literally nobody in your range in the whole game at this moment.
If you use Wex and it stuck searching one place, it means only that place has a potential match.
The mod *shouldn’t* ban you, every precaution was taken to avoid tripping anti-cheat. There should be no way to use Wex Dust and get banned for it. At this point couple thousand people played with the mod and there was only a handful of ban reports (you can read all of them in the Bugs tab).
Versions up to 1.3 would ban you when Wex tried to invade a DLC area and you don’t own the DLC. The error was fixed in 1.4. Since the release this is the only confirmed way to get flagged.
Please note I’m not saying «it’s safe, it won’t ban you». There still may exist a super sneaky bug that will ban you of all people but chances are very low.
This is pure «quality of life» thing, something that could’ve been built-in in the game. It does not give any unfair advantages in a fight, it doesn’t do anything a player can’t do, it just reduces time needed to find an invasion.
However, it allows to invade any location without obtaining necessary key items. For example, you can create new character, progress to Firelink, buy this item, use it, and invade Grand Archives if there is someone in your matchmaking range there. Just to be clear, it won’t allow to invade a boss room or some other uninvadable area.
Uninstallation:
Remove all mod’s files from the game folder when the game is not running.
Wex Dust doesn’t modify save files, it’s safe to uninstall at any point.

Увидел на видео, тип юзает предмет «Wex Dust» из храма огня и его телепортит в разные локации в форме темного духа. Я играю в DS3 не давно, очень удивился, полез искать на форуме инфу. Не нашел ничего, может руки кривые, может лень перелопачивать миллион страниц. В итоге загуглил, и мне выдало
Кто что знает про этот мод, кто пользовался, банят ли за него??

Previous versions of Wex Dust mod got many players banned. The prominent reason was that the mod allowed you to invade DLC areas even though you don’t have either of the DLCs. Newer versions should be safe. For more information see:

After the DLC thing was fixed, I haven’t seen anyone claiming to get banned by it. I’ve tried it a couple of times. No ban, but it was kinda buggy for me.
I wish this was the way invading worked right from the start. When you use it, the game feels alive again.

My friend and I have been talking about this being an in-game feature since DS1 practically.
Is this a typical use at own risk mod? Banable?
I have been using the Wex dust mod for a little over two weeks now and havent been banned. I think the mod developer took extra care to avoid the anticheat system. Only issue im running into is the occasional crashing when invading several times in a row. Other than that, solid mod
I know this thread is ancient, but this post has just made my day. It works flawlessly, and almost always finds me an invasion right away. Thank you so much for posting!
But today I experienced something odd: (I installed via DLL btw) I openned ds3, got 2 invasions, and at those, if I was directly facing my opponent, host and/or blue, a weird Chinese or Japanese kind of items menu overlay showed up in my screen.

source: I have two or three different mods installed (which don’t affect pvp or even pve) and I haven’t gotten banned for over a year of using them. one, I’ve used for over two years.
Nothing that dose anything with your DS3 files is safe.
No mod is safe to use and can give you a soft ban or perma ban.
All wrong, some mods are safe, others are not. If it makes no modifications to your save file (not game files), then it should be safe.
Many streamers have been using the wex dust mod and none to my knowledge have reported being banned as of yet.

I say for now because no one knows for certain what will happens in the future. Perhaps FromwSoft will release a patch that detects mods that are safe and will ban everyone using them.
Of course if you want to be always 100% safe just don’t use anything at all outside the game but yeah I’m «gullible» I guess
